Between the Pages

 Hello everyone! Here is a little update on my reading and book goals this week. 

 I hope you all enjoyed the airport books piece! I honestly LOVED writing it. Today, something a little simpler and shorter is on the agenda - a conglomeration of details about my literary life right now. An update, if you will, about what books I just bought, I am reading, and what I've got my eye on.  What I Just Bought Box in the Woods  by Maureen Johnson (yes, the same author of the Truly Devious trilogy! This book has some of the same characters too!) Finlay Donovan is Killing It   by Elle Cosimano (an adult book, but when the words "a mystery" are on the front - MUAH...) I made both of these purchases on my weekly trip to Parnassus. Yes, I usually get one book, but I had to get these two this week. I am reading A LOT right now! I finished Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens per the request of my Instagram followers. It was very good - a review is coming soon. If you are thinking about ordering it or buying it in a store, I highly recommend picking one up. While it is an adult book, it is very good (the first "good for young adults" adult book I've read in a while).  I am currently reading the third book in The Charlotte Holmes trilogy by Brittany Cavallaro ( A Study in Charlotte, The Last of August,  and  A Case for Jamie ). I love these books. While I think the first is the best one so far (as is true with many series and trilogies), the other two are completely delightful. They are certainly thriller-light, but they make me want to be a smarter person.  Also, on another note, I am not sure about this little literary journal series I seem to be doing weekly or tri-monthly. Happy New Year! I am working on two posts right now. One is about how I have gotten over my hesitations and fears of reviewing classic books and the other is a New Year's resolutions - book edition - post.  I am about to start a 3 week period at my school where you take elective classes instead of those in your regular schedule. I am taking a class where you get to read for eighty straight minutes every day . I mean reading whatever you want. I am about to do a poll on Instagram about which book (or series) I should start on Monday. For those of you not on Instagram (if there is anyone reading this post), comment below which of the three books below sounds the best.  Have a great start to the year, and comment on which book looks the most interesting!

     I am in the middle of two books. My resolution for 2020 was to read one book at a time. My thoughts: (1) it will be faster and more efficient to read one book at a time (2) I can focus on the characters and what the book is telling me (3) my reviews will be more spot-on, more critical, and more representative. Guess what? All year, I read multiple books at a time. I didn't meet the goal. That's fine, right? I read almost thirty books (so far), so my system mus have worked well.       Right now, I am reading Truman Capote's In Cold Blood  which I am LOVING, and Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile (surprise surprise she's reading Agatha Christie again ) is one of her best, truly amazing. Capote's work has so much journalistic importance.
