While young adult romance, especially in books, can be incredibly
cheesy, who doesn’t love a sappy, love novel to read on Valentine’s Day. Ranging
from one ultimate classic to several lighthearted, current novels, here are my
top six books to read on Valentine’s Day Weekend.
#6: The Fill-in Boyfriend
By Kasie West

The Fill-In Boyfriend is just what it sounds: girl’s relationship falls through in the
parking lot at her senior prom, so she MUST have someone for her friends to
meet; thus, she grabs the first boy in sight. A couple fibs, one night, half an
hour of dancing, then it’s over, right? Wrong. Now, she’s totally involved… Predictability
can be good and bad, but when the desired outcome is a sappy, heart-string tugging novel, it’s great.
#5: Scrambled Eggs at Midnight
By Heather Hepler (Read my interview with this author here.) and
Brad Barkley

Cal needs a permanent home. She is tired of road tripping from state
to state with her mother. She needs friends for more than two weeks. She wishes
she didn’t have to leave all her belongings behind and leave every three months.
Most of all, she needs to get out of this car! She finds the friendship (and
*spoiler* more) she craves in Elliot, a local boy (setting based on
Asheville, North Carolina) who longs for the days before his father opened a
Christian-weight loss camp. While slow and predictable, this book has a romantic
ending!
#4: Love and Gelato
By Jenna Evans Welch

A foreign destination, a stereotypically cute guy, and sugary-sweet
gelato, what could be better for Valentine’s Day? Read the full review here.
#3: Royals
By Rachel Hawkins
An excited teenager, a trip to the United Kingdom, a whole group
of great looking guys are all components of Hawkins’ Royals; however,
it’s not all a cup of tea for Daisy Winters. Read the full review here.
#2: Sleepaway Girls
By Jen Calonita

One of my all-time favorite YA novels, I have read this book six
or more times. I fell as deeply in love with the characters and Whispering
Pines Summer Camp as Sam does with, oh, I won’t bore you with who. Read the full review here.
#1: Pride and Prejudice
By Jane Austen
A forever classic, Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy’s will-they
won’t-they relationship keeps me reading the book at least once a year. This
book is well worth braving the complicated language and putting up with Mrs.
Bennet for. Click here to read about Pride and Prejudice further on this
blog.
