BTP Summer 2021 Update

Hello all! You know what time of year it is (finally). SUMMER! The prettiest weather, the best activities, the cutest outfits, and (I saved the best for last) the most time for reading. As you all know, summer is the time when BTP gets the most action. I read more, review more, post more, take pictures more, book club more, everything with books - MORE. I thought I would give you all a BTP summer update / plan so (1) you know what to expect, and (2) I can hold myself accountable for posting.

MORE FREQUENT POSTS

I plan to post more often (significantly more often) now that school is out, and I don't have homework and you know, I don't have to drive an hour to school every day. Expect more reviews and fun content very soon (I made a spreadsheet with checkboxes and deadlines, so I mean business).

BOOK CLUB

Be'Tween' the Pages is organizing another book club this year! If you go to my high school, please email me if you still wish to join. Everyone else, get ready for some book club content that highlights our conversations as well as the rationale behind the books we choose to read together. Hopefully, some of you will get inspired to start your own summer book clubs!

READING MORE

I get to read more. This requires little to no explanation. When I get to read more, you get to hear more about it. Lucky me and lucky you (lol).

BOOKISH CONTENT

I will post more reviews, as this is a book REVIEW blog; however, I look forward to posting more interest pieces as well like collections of niche types of books (ie my fav royalty fiction), updates on my reading (including pie charts *squeal*) with stats and favorite authors so far, and book store visit reviews.

SUMMER JOBS W/ BOOKS

I am happy to report that I have two jobs this summer! I will be working at two libraries (one public and one private) - I am soooooo cooooool aren't I? I am looking forward to keeping a log of my experiences on here as well as being a library advocate through this blog.

Happy summer everyone!! I am looking forward to posting and reading more in the coming months. Happy reading! What book are you starting the summer off with?

Author Spotlight: Kimberly Brubaker Bradley

Kimberly Brubaker Bradley At my school, I am a Library Leader. (Library Leaders promote reading in the middle school and recommend books for the younger grades.) The Library Leaders had the fortunate opportunity of eating lunch and meeting with Kimberly Brubaker Bradley. We got to ask her questions and just talk with her. Mrs. Bradley also spoke to the whole seventh and eighth grade in assembly about her research. 1)      When/How does she write? Mrs. Bradley writes in the morning, but this depends on her chores for the day. She got into her routine when her children, now graduating college and out of college, were small and went to school. She would always wait until her husband took them to drop them off at school. She likes for her writing space to be very quiet. She prefers typing when she when she writes as to writing. (This may be pretty common; I do not know what the common format among writers is today. I just thought I would include eve...

The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle

Reading and writing, reading and writing, reading and writing: that's what I hope to keep doing all summer (with some swimming and seeing friends mixed in there too!). Here's another review! This is Stuart Turton's The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle,  and it's a doozy.  SUMMARY THE RULES OF BLACKHEATH Evelyn Hardcastle will be murdered at 11:00 p.m. There are eight days and eight witnesses for you to inhabit. We will only let you escape once you tell us the name of the killer. Understood? Then let's begin... Evelyn Hardcastle WILL die. And every day Aiden Bishop WILL try to identify her killer and break this neverending cycle he has somehow found himself in. But every time a new day begins, Aiden inhabits the body of a different guest at Blackheath. Some of Aiden's hosts will be more helpful than others. Some of Aiden's hosts are more capable than others. Some of Aiden's hosts start to overcome Aiden's true personality. Then again, who is Aiden? A...
